Olivia and (her) blog.

Oh how I was keenly anticipating this endeavour from Miss Olivia Palermo, but somehow I feel she’s she just missed the mark.

When Palermo announced her grand plans to launch a personal fashion blog a few months back, the reception was warm and fuzzy. It was the perfect recipe for success – a pretty, paparazzi fave with a fabulous wardrobe and uncanny knack for styling, giving tips and tricks on what makes her fashion-self tick.

But alas, when finally launched last week, it was slammed by the fashion industry and followers alike for its blatant lack of authenticity and soul. It’s no secret that the secret behind any great blog is the unique and personal voice of its creator and Palermo’s has no less than four full-timers and 11 additional contributors, making many question whose point of view it really is anyway? She has said that she will oversee all content herself, and has promised to write ‘two to three pieces a week’, but truth be told, this really won’t cut the mustard in the blogosphere.

And it’s not just me who feel’s a little short-shifted by her foray, with New York Magazine blasting the site for the poor spelling and saying that the blog needs more pictures of its namesake. ‘Because if Palermo is good at anything, it is getting dressed’.

I couldn’t agree more. Livvy, if you’re listening, play to your strengths and post as many outfit pics and tips as you can. You’ve got a great look and know how to own a photo. Simple as that.
